Pondering…

The Bible tells us to “Ponder the path of thy feet…” and to “Return to thine own house and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. …”. He also tells us to “Cast not away therefore your confidence…”

So how do I do these things?  Ponder where life has taken me and is taking me.  Publish the things God has done for me so that others will be encouraged without casting away my own confidence.  I do these things by writing.  Writing is hard, but I love it so.  It is a very lonely activity, so being an introvert helps.  However, writing is in the end a conversation between the writer and the reader. The writing needs to be published somewhere — there needs to be feedback.  That is where the danger of “casting away your confidence” lies.

Here I am, after quite a long blogging hiatus. My old blog was a free, mommy blog of sorts.  I called it an adoption blog.  We were in the midst of international adoption and many moms were chronicling their journey.  I thought it a good way to keep far-flung family members in touch with our process.  It ended up being several years of a family chronicle.  It was fun while the kids were young, however, some time down the road and the onion peeled back, and the deep layers were exposed; I felt that our family life was no longer public fodder. I wrote sporadically, eventually privatted the blog, and left the memories for only my kids and me.

However, the writing never stopped for real.  I am always jotting down something somewhere.   Years have passed and I know the reason to do anything is for the glory of God.  1 Corinthians 10:31 — “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”  Whatsoever ye do… car mechanic, painter, engineer or even writing — all to the glory of God.

Can I do that?  Write for the glory of God? Well, not really, no. I do believe, however, that God can do anything, even with our “2 loaves”, so to speak.  That’s this blog then, my pondering, my “2 loaves” offering to God not knowing how He will use it.
